Health and Safety

Maintaining the highest standards of Health and Safety is a fundamental part of the Peek Philosophy. Our dedicated Health and Safety Manager has a Company Wide remit to ensure adherence to the Company Policy which is set by the Managing Director.

All service personnel are accredited to the card carrying National Sector Scheme for working on live highways, and Peek is an accredited Sector 8 training organization. Health and Safety information is cascaded to employees at briefing sessions, tool box talks, and bulletins are displayed on the notice boards at all Peek locations. All employees are provided with a copy of the Company Health and Safety Policy and Guidelines as part of their induction.

ISO 9001:2000

Peek is a certified BS EN ISO 9001:2000 Company. One of the key elements of this standard is to demonstrate continuous improvement with regard to quality in all aspects of our organization, and our QMS (Quality Management System) is reviewed and updated accordingly to ensure the continuous improvement of our processes and procedures.

All Peek's locations in the UK are audited to comply with our ISO 9001:2000 procedures, and all product design and manufacturing are audited to TickIT Guide Issue 5.

International Environmental Standard

ISO 14001:2004   

Peek is a certified BS EN ISO 14001:2004 company.  As a professional and environmentally conscious organisation, we acknowledge the impact that our operations may potentially have on the environment. The clear objective of Peek is to minimise any impact on the environment by:

  ISO 9001:2000
  • Preventing pollution, reducing waste and ensuring wherever practical measures are implemented to protect and preserve natural habitats, flora and fauna;
  • Sorting and grading all our waste, and maximising the amount we re-cycle;
  • Considering the effects that our operations may have on the local community;
  • Taking action to eliminate or reduce as far as practicable, any potentially adverse environmental impacts;
  • Promoting environmental awareness amongst our suppliers, contractors and partners by implementation of operational procedures;
  • Seeking to work in partnership with the community by behaving in a considerate and socially responsible manner;
  • Ensuring effective and expedient incident control, investigation and reporting;
  • Reducing carbon emissions by minimising unnecessary travel and utilising cleaner, more efficient company vehicles. To uphold this policy and assist in achieving these objectives, Peek will endeavour to ensure that its staff are provided with the necessary resources and training, and will operate a documented Environmental Management System that satisfies the requirements of EN ISO 14001:2004 and National Highways Sector Scheme 8;
  • Taking all practical steps to ensure that potential hazards and risks to the environment are identified and that suitable and effective preventative and control measures are implemented.  All employees will be provided with the necessary resources, equipment, information, instruction and training to fulfil the requirements of this policy.

Peek Traffic Ltd will fully comply with the duties placed upon it by legislation, whilst at all times complying with, as a matter of best practice, the requirements and duties set out within Approved Guidance issued by the Environment Agency and other organisations.
All employees and contractors are expected to co-operate and assist in the implementation of this policy, whilst ensuring that their own works, so far as is reasonably practicable, are carried out without risk to themselves, others or the environment.  This includes co-operating with Peek’s management and / or Peek’s Environmental Department on any environment related matter.
Management and supervisory staff have responsibilities for the implementation of the policy and must ensure that environmental issues are given adequate consideration in the planning and day-to-day supervision of all work.
The Directors have overall responsibility for all environmental matters.  The operation of this policy and the associated procedures will be monitored and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that they remain current and applicable to the company's activities. This policy has been endorsed by the management board of Peek Traffic Ltd who have given their full support to the implementation of the policy.

ARTSM is an industry association, involved in consultation with Government regarding the setting and maintaining of standards and specifications for the traffic Industry. Peek is an active and supportive member of the association.
