Outstation Control Devices
Peek provides a wide range of outstations for the control of traffic equipment. The outstation provides an important interface between equipment installed at the roadside and a central control room.

ChameleonPeek’s latest UTMC compatible, IP-enabled, outstation device can change its functionality depending on the installed firmware. Currently applications are available for OTU functionality using the published UTMC protocol and additionally Remote Monitoring functionality. The unit can be mounted in a Peek or third-party controller operating in a semi-integral manner in a Peek TRX or in a free-standing manner in other controllers. In free-standing mode the Chameleon can be fitted with one or more Peek Lamp Monitoring Units to provide all-colour lamp monitoring capability (including direct monitoring of a number of common LED signal types). |

The Chameleon has an integral uninterruptible power supply capable of supporting not just the Chameleon but also external modem devices enabling the Chameleon to “phone home” in the event of an on-site power failure. The Chameleon interfaces to communications networks via either its Ethernet PORT or RS232 (for modem compatibility). OTU functionality can be permanently on-line or temporary using dial-up connectivity. The Chameleon has a host of other facilities including statistics gathering and the ability to record events after receipt of a trigger event e.g. a bus-priority request. This platform will be use by Peek to host further applications in the future making it truly “future-proof”.
Modem Rack
Peek’s modem rack provides a convenient and compact solution to housing Peek’s 3U V23 modems at UTC instations. Each modem is provided with power from the racks common power supply and a separate RS232 interface for connecting to a Front End Processor.
OTUThe Peek OTU provides the connectivity between junction or pedestrian signal controllers and UTC systems. Via the Peek V23 modem it utilises the MCE0361 standard protocol to receive data for the controller and to transmit data from the controller and SCOOT detectors (if so configured). The OTU can be made available in a number of forms including a build to use free-standing in third-party controllers and builds for use in a semi-integral mode in Peek controllers. Further, using a non-standard protocol additional functionality can be provided including the ability to down and upload plans and time-tables. With these plans the OTU can take control of the attached traffic signal controller either by timetable or if the communications to the central instation fails. |

MOVAMOVA solves one of the major problems of traffic control - how to optimise the throughput of traffic at intersections without resorting to centralised control. This device is an add-on to Peek’s OMCU product and enables the running of MOVA V4.2. In conjunction with the Peek WISNet instation or the TRL issued communications tools this device will allow remote monitoring of its operation and that of the controller into which it is installed. |
